Photographer Branding

Project type

Brand Identity Design

Date

July 10, 2025

Location

New York City, NY

As a professional photographer and videographer, Erik Torres approached Mirage Studios with a clear vision for a visual identity that felt bold, personal, and emblematic of his creative hustle. He was inspired by the streetwear aesthetic of Johnny Cupcakes,a brand known for fusing iconography with personality and wanted something with that same punch: clean, edgy, and instantly recognizable.

We developed a full logo system built around two core themes: grit and individuality. The foundation of the identity is a customized crossbones graphic, representing the work ethic and grind behind Erik’s creative process. Rather than a traditional skull, we incorporated a stylized illustration of Erik’s actual camera model, making the mark truly one-of-a-kind and authentic to him.

Key Design Features:
• Primary Badge Logos: Circular and stacked badge options ideal for social profiles, watermarks, and merchandise. Each version maintains high contrast and strong legibility at small sizes.
• Crossbones Mark: A versatile icon that serves as both a secondary mark and a standalone brand stamp. The camera-centered crossbones signal a rebellious spirit grounded in skill.
• Wordmark Variants: From arched varsity typography to bold horizontal layouts, the logo suite includes flexible type arrangements for apparel, online branding, and print collateral.
• Monogram “E”: Inspired by varsity lettering, this stylized initial adds another layer to the identity system great for stickers, social icons, or custom patches.

The final deliverables included a monochrome vector system for maximum versatility, with usage guidelines for placement, scale, and visual hierarchy. This brand package not only reflects Erik’s creative identity but also gives him a robust toolkit for visual consistency across platforms.

Designing for other creatives is a unique privilege and this project was a reminder of how powerful visual storytelling becomes when it’s rooted in personal connection and shared respect.
